CLOQUET, Minn. (Northern News Now) – A small group gathered in Cloquet Friday afternoon, calling on the community to shop small.

Cloquet Area Indivisible members held a “we ain’t buying it” protest.

They were specifically calling out companies that they say aligned with President Trump’s request to eliminate diversity, equity, and inclusion policies, something protesters on Friday didn’t agree with.

They also criticized what they feel is an unfair impact tariffs have had on small businesses.

“This is important because it’s impacting every single American. And the ones that have the least are impacted the most, so that’s why it’s so important,” said one protester, Wendy Schnelder.

Those in favor of tariffs on foreign items say they protect American-made products and our national security.
