We buy travel insurance independent of the cruise lines. There will be still be a possibility of you paying some up front, but it does include medical evacuation costs for injured or sick person on the cruise. The emergency evacuation is supposed to be coordinated with insurance company. Fortunately, I've never had to use it.
Cruise insurance is a fraud. I cruise twice a yr and have geard horror stories from peopke that have tried to use tge insurance for what it is for. Those people all have told me how they will bever buy ut again.
The biggest lesson here is, FIRST THING before traveling anywhere, talk extensively and get it in writing about what, where and when your medical insurance covers your care in an event you need it. Travel insurance is only secondary on medical expenses while traveling. Also something people don’t know about is if you need medical interventions, most countries will extort you and your family especially if you’re critically injured or ill.
Can't stand to be anywhere I can't leave if the wrong people show up. I went on a 5 day, and 7 days. The 7 days told me I'd had enough. I don't drink, nor gamble. Spent a lot of time just looking at the ocean which gets boring after hours….
If you know your health is not good then you should to buy the travel insurance. I went like 20 times on the Ctuise and really happy about it. Don't understand why do ppl got sick or fell on the ship …the ships they made is very safe.
By C19 they actually mean from those boo boo boosters y'all kept getting. It's destroying your blood and organs. They can't go calling it an adverse reaction to those things you got though can they ' which is exactly what it is. Nut I know – no no no it's long Ovid – Yeah whatever the heck that is. C19 The gift that just keeps on giving, magically constantly evolving… Lol
I sailed on the same cruiseship Harmony of the Seas in October 2023, five months before they sailed. Everything was good until disembarkation when a passenger's 5 year-old son coughed right on my face!!! I flew back home from Miami, where this ships ports at. Two days later, I had a nasty cold. It wasn't Covid though. Two months later, I went on a Celebrity cruise from Los Angeles and it was great, I remained healthy during and after the cruise.
It's not the cruise line's fault. If you are purchasing insurance, it is YOUR responsibility to know what you are buying. They got the money back. 🤷♀I don't understand the issue. And not being mean, but if they were 'healthier', he more than likely wouldn't have gotten so ill with Covid. Sorry, not sorry.
Don't have covid or sick on board because to claim insurance, you pay first than claim later. And be raedy to set aside US$150,000 in case one is sick in these kind of scenarios
SO….they got reimbursed, but they are still complaining???Why go on a cruise ship when your house is already decorated like one?
Germ incubators for desperados! LOL.

You couldn't pay me to get on one of those floating petri dishes! (or peach tree dishes if you're MTG)
No thank you….I'll stay on land and away from others, I'll enjoy my peace and quiet…I don't want to be on a ship with a thousand other ppl….
Peoples misery makes insurance companies happy.

Tragic
Glad to hear they weren’t thrown overboard
I wouldnt have paid them shit…
Why is the news presenter so lazy? On the left… the lazy sitting dude. 😂😂😂 Can he even sit up?
I learned a long time ago travel insurance is a scam
So they did get their money reimbursed and some cruise credit.
These rich people had to pay the medical bill, but got reimbursed. So what was the problem??! 😂🤣
I would never want to spend my vacation on a boat, where you give up certain rights.
Dog is so well mannered! Oh….yeah that sucks about the medical scam

NEVER BEEN AND NEVER WILL BE IN A CRUISE SHIP, not my thing to do

It happened to us too. Except in Curaçao…. My husband had a heart attack in Bonaire. A total nightmare….
& an expensive one at that.
Moral of the story? Spend money on replacing old sofa.
I have always maintained, these ships are nothing but floating Petri dishes.

Diagnosed with covid 19? Covid 19 and the flu remind me of Clark Kent and Superman.
This is why we carry 2 travel insurance policies. We have been blessed not to have any health issues however we are ready when it does.
So if your insurance pays why purchase a travel insurance?

They are not seasoned travellers if they bought cruise line insurance. Always get your own.
I'm sure that won't happens again on their 16th-20th+ cruise trips
And the thrill of cruising is where???
So everything was paid for plus they got cruise credits. I'd say they came out ahead
Imagine spending $10K to go vacation on a giant Petri dish? 😂
Buy insurance that is not affiliated with the cruise line, too many horror stories, check it out.
In many countries, like mexico, you wont receive treatment unless you can pay up front.
I will never go on a cruise. Ever.
Not for me.
God bless you. Thank you for sharing your story. Glad to see you are both healthy now ❤
She spent way more going on 15 cruises. I have no sympathy.
If people want the od experiences of cruising book river cruises , take smaller ships on a better class of ships.
After 55 you need a comprehensive healthcare insurance that includes transfers and all. But you also need to have money to pay upfront.

They’d be getting $20/month from me or nothing. Nope!
Insurance is compulsory .
I have complex medical issues and can’t do cruises anymore. Sorry these folks went through this.
It’s almost as if you shouldn’t be traveling during a STILL ONGOING PANDEMIC. They deserve why they got. They’re lucky he’s alive.
