People living in a South Apopka neighborhood said they’ve been dealing with kids kicking their doors. Part of a social media challenge seen in numerous neighborhoods. In ring doorbell camera video from November, you can see a person in all black with just their eyes visible kick a door twice before running off and taking off on their bike. It happened on La Gorce Drive. The homeowner who’s ring camera this came from said they’ve had it happen at least three times over the last year. Other neighbors said they’ve had it happen too. Including Bill Allen, who said he’s had someone do the same sort of door kick at his house. “About three weeks ago, they kicked the front door. Split the jam up and split the door,” Allen said. He said he was sitting in his living room when it happened. “It was loud,” he said. “I mean, they kicked it twice. The only thing that kept it from coming open is the trim on the inside held, but it split the jam.”He said he’s fixed the door up himself for now, but once he really gets it repaired, “If I have it done, it will be somewhere between 800 and 1,000,” Allen said. Right after it happened, he got a Ring doorbell camera. “Immediately. The next day,” he said. Another neighbor said they put up a camera, too, after one of the multiple times they’ve had this happen. “The neighbor across the street, they’ve done theirs twice,” Allen said. Allen said in his case, police were called, but he didn’t file an official report. When WESH 2 reached out to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, they confirmed they responded to at least one report of an incident like this in this neighborhood in 2024. Allen worries if the kicking continues how it might end. “That’s what scares me,” he said. “Because it’s just kids, and if they kick the wrong door, it is a home invasion because you don’t know what’s going on. If somebody is sitting in the house with a gun, it could end very badly.”
