A Marydel Volunteer Fire Company EMT supervisor has been ordered to undergo diversity training after printing an identification card with a photo of a gorilla and showing it to a teenage firefighter who is Black and Native American.
At a Delaware State Fire Prevention Commission hearing Dec. 12, the volunteer also was found to have failed to complete numerous patient reports in a timely manner. For that infraction, the EMT’s license was suspended for six months, placed on probation for one year and was ordered to receive education on patient care reports.
