EUGENE, Ore. – The Black Cultural Initiative is bringing back its popular “Black Santa Celebration” in Eugene this weekend.
According to the Black Cultural Initiative, the two-day event will take place at The People’s Collective Cultural Center on Jefferson Street. It promises a variety of festive activities, including free photos with Black Santa, giveaways, and arts and crafts.
“Black Santa is so amazing. This is our third annual Black Santa and it’s a really beautiful way for children and families, children of all ages to come and get a photo taken with Black Santa,” Talicia Brown, executive director of the Black Cultural Initiative, said.
Brown also highlighted the community offerings, saying, “We offer free gifts and free books for children. We have soup and bread and rice to serve the community.”
The event will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Dec. 20 and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Dec. 21. A Food for Lane County mobile food pantry will also be present to support local families in need.
