Joe Buck Reveals Black Eye from Breaking Up Sons’ Fight

NEED TO KNOW

  • Joe Buck had a black eye concealed under makeup during a Jan. 3 ESPN broadcast, he later revealed on social media
  • The sportscaster got the bruise after taking “a knee to the eye while breaking up a fight” between his 7-year-old twin sons
  • Buck, who shares sons Wyatt and Blake with wife Michelle Beisner-Buck, also gave a shout-out to the makeup artist who covered the bruise, Kathleen Vybihal

Joe Buck looked a little rough around the edges due to his twins’ roughhousing — but thanks to his makeup artist, nobody noticed!

The ESPN sportscaster, 56, looked as camera-ready as always while announcing during the Seattle Seahawks-San Francisco 49ers game on Saturday, Jan. 3, but he was actually hiding a massive shiner under makeup, he revealed in an X post later that night.

In the lighthearted post, the Monday Night Football analyst revealed that he had a black eye during the broadcast, which he proved with an eyes-closed selfie highlighting the purple bruise.

Alongside the picture, he shared how he got the shiner — and offered a shout-out to the makeup artist who covered it up.

Buck got the black eye two days before appearing on-camera while “breaking up” a squabble between his 7-year-old twin sons, Wyatt Joseph and Blake Andrew, whom he shares with wife Michelle Beisner-Buck, according to the post.

“Not all heroes wear capes, but some bring them to work,” the sportscaster wrote. “Our makeup artiste, the great Kathleen Vybihal, hid this from high def cameras tonight.”

“Nothing like a knee to the eye while breaking up a fight between 7 year old twins 48 hours before a big game!!!” he added. “He got me!!” (He didn’t specify which of his two sons provided the “knee to the eye” in his post.)

Another ESPN employee, hockey analyst Ray Ferraro, offered high praise for Vybihal while reposting Buck’s big reveal. “Kathleen is the best!!!” wrote the analyst. “Nice work!!”

Buck and his reporter wife, also an ESPN employee, welcomed Wyatt and Blake on April 26, 2018 — four years after they wed, and exactly one day after Joe’s 49th birthday.

The longtime sportscaster also has two adult daughters, Trudy and Natalie, whom he shares with ex-wife Ann Archambault Buck. The former couple wed in 1993 and divorced in 2011.

Beisner-Buck, 49, frequently shares photos of the twins — and the family of four — on Instagram, documenting things like the boys’ first day of school and holidays.

For Father’s Day 2024, the reporter and former cheerleader shared a tribute with several photos of Buck with his sons and daughters — and sang the father of four’s praises in an accompanying message.

“Happy Father’s Day to the absolute 🐐!!! We love you so much @boejuck 💙💙💙💙💙💙,” she wrote. “You love all of us with your whole heart and go above and beyond to make sure everyone is safe and happy. Thank YOU for blessing our lives, every single day 🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼.”
