The Ghent Playhouse will ring in the new year with Peter Shaffer’s farce “Black Comedy,” directed by Ed Dignum. Performances run Fridays through Sundays, Jan. 23 to 25 and Jan. 30 to Feb. 1.

Set in London during the “swinging sixties,” the play follows ambitious young sculptor Brindsley Miller and his fiancée as they attempt to impress her disapproving father and an influential art collector. Their plan? Borrow their neighbor’s priceless antiques — without permission. But when a sudden power outage plunges the apartment into darkness, their efforts quickly spiral into madcap chaos.
