On Saturday, Jan. 24, music will swell and fill the Georgia Theatre during Rock the Ark, a benefit concert supporting local eviction prevention efforts, according to a press release from The Ark.
The benefit concert is organized by The Ark, an Athens-Clarke County-based organization dedicated to helping individuals and families facing financial crises. The concert is presented by Elwood & Goetz Wealth Advisory, an Athens wealth management firm.
The show will begin at 7 p.m. with doors opening at 5:45 p.m. Following opening act Karma Kat, the concert will be headlined by Wim Tapley & The Cannons, a band known for their “voice that feels like an instant classic.”
Revenue from ticket sales directly supports The Ark’s work to prevent evictions, according to the Rock the Ark website. The organization has assisted its neighbors through programs such as emergency rent, utility assistance, elderly assistance, small loans and financial education for over 35 years.
Rock the Ark is The Ark’s largest fundraiser of 2026. Without the community support for efforts such as the concert, the organization would struggle to assist the over 40,000 individuals served and $3 million raised since The Ark’s inception in 1989.
Tickets are on sale now. General admission will cost $34.96 and includes a “night of live music, dancing and community connection.” For $70.81, attendants can receive VIP tickets, which provide premium viewing sections, an exclusive bar, priority seating and complimentary merchandise.
