Dominica’s President Sylvanie Burton told the 80th United Nations General Assembly the Caribbean must remain a “zone of peace” and said conflict would devastate lives, economies, and stability. The US has been building a naval presence in the southern Caribbean it says is to combat drug trafficking.

While PM Skerrit and President Burton impress diplomats with polished words, ordinary Dominicans face broken roads, failing schools, poor healthcare, and unemployment. True leadership is proven at home, not in UN chambers. A nation cannot stand strong on broken foundations.
When was the last time the leaders of Dominica looked in the mirror? The citizens of Dominica are on their knees when the leaders give big speeches at the UN. Speeches that have no real weight or meaning for the citizens of Dominica. How dare you criticize others when your own country is the poorest in the entire Caribbean and you have done nothing to improve the lives of your own people.
