WASHINGTON D.C. – Congressman Steven Horsford (NV-04) will travel to Montgomery, Alabama this weekend to participate in the “All Roads Lead to the South” Congressional Pilgrimage.

The day of action comes amid ongoing concerns over efforts to redraw congressional maps in ways that dilute Black representation across several Southern states, including Alabama, Louisiana, Florida, South Carolina, Missouri, Tennessee, and Mississippi.

“The March on Montgomery is more than a reminder of what our ancestors sacrificed. It is a warning about what we stand to lose,” Rep. Horsford said. “What we are witnessing across the South is not just an attack on the ballot. It is an attack on our economic power, our dignity, and our future. When you dilute Black political representation, you threaten the prosperity of Black families and the promise of this democracy. That is why Members of Congress are standing shoulder to shoulder with communities across this region, why leaders are converging from across the country, and why we will not be silent. We will march. We will organize. We will fight. And we will win.”

As the first Black Member of Congress elected from Nevada to the House of Representatives and the first Black Majority Leader in Nevada State Senate history, Congressman Horsford has been an advocate for stronger voting rights protections, including passage of the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act.

Congressman Horsford will join fellow Members of Congress, civil rights leaders, and advocates throughout the pilgrimage honoring the legacy of the Civil Rights Movement and renewing calls to protect voting rights and equal representation for all Americans.
