SHREVEPORT, La. — A community-focused business and wealth-building event is set to take place this weekend in Shreveport, offering free access to entrepreneurship training, financial education, and networking opportunities for aspiring business owners of all ages.
The event, titled “Let’s Talk About Business,” will be held Saturday from 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Bill Cockrell Park, 4109 Pines Road.
It is hosted by Donnetta Watson and Barbara Norton and presented by the Black MasterMind Group in partnership with the Legacy Park Plaza.
Organizers say the initiative is designed to go beyond traditional community programming and focus on practical wealth-building education, including business development, investment awareness, and long-term financial strategy.
Norton said the program is about expanding opportunity and redefining what community engagement looks like.
“It’s a team effort that we want to bring to Shreveport. … We are the African American Parade Celebration, but that’s not all that we do. We’re offering people an opportunity to come out and be a part of this Black MasterMind initiative,” Norton said.
She added that the program connects attendees with traveling business educators who share strategies on entrepreneurship and wealth creation.
“They travel throughout the country sharing this information and getting people prepared to become, you know, millionaires,” she said.
Norton emphasized that the event is free and open to the public, including young people interested in entrepreneurship.
She noted that the program will introduce attendees to multiple financial pathways, including business ownership, investing, and financial literacy.
Organizers say guests will be welcomed on arrival, with food provided before training sessions begin. The event will focus on business education and practical tools for starting and scaling ventures.
Norton said the event will serve as the foundation for continued training opportunities.
“There will be classes set up in the next month or two. This is just the beginning of learning how to become an entrepreneur and understanding how to become wealthy,” she said.
