SHREVEPORT, La. — A local initiative is working to address mental health in the community by partnering with a place many already trust — the barbershop.
Organizers are hosting the second Black Men’s Mental Health Forum on Wednesday, focusing on equipping barbers with the tools and resources to support conversations around mental health.
“The barbershop has always been a pillar of the community,” organizers said, emphasizing its role as a safe space where men and young boys often open up.
The forum will be held at 6 p.m. at Bos-Man Barber College, located at 2724 W. 70th Street in Shreveport. Local leaders, barbers, and mental health advocates will gather to strengthen awareness and build support systems within the community.
