Cynthia Newsome, a beloved Kansas City news anchor who spent 25 years at KSHB 41, has passed away following a battle with brain cancer. She joined the station in 1997 and became one of the most respected figures in Kansas City journalism. In 2012, she was inducted into the Silver Circle by the Mid-America Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. In her later years at the station, she served as Director of Community Partnerships and co-founded Awesome Ambitions, a nonprofit supporting college and career readiness for Black and brown girls.
