ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Living Color Juneteenth Day Experience happened on Friday, honoring members of Rochester’s black community on East Main Street.

Ten local leaders were recognized for their work, aiming to guide and educate Rochester’s kids and teens.

“Everyday people who area just amazing at what they do, and because of them, there are kids in our community who grow to be adults and they learn to do better and be better because of what impact, said Rashad Smith, organizer of Everyday People PR.

“But it also is an opportunity for us to say to our community members who are leading, thank you for leading, Smith said.

Friday’s proceeds went to “Unlock Stories,” a program that aims to empower youth through storytelling and creative expression.
