More Malawians leave South Africa as anti-immigrant deadline nears

More Malawians are returning home from South Africa following a wave of anti-immigrant violence and threats targeting foreign nationals. The Malawian government earlier launched a nationwide fundraising campaign to support the repatriation effort. Anti-migrant protesters have given undocumented foreigners until June 30 to leave the country or face untold consequences.

  1. $40m required to repatriate just a few? We have probably a million undocumented Malawians in SA. We are no longer prepared to foot your bill. Find the money somewhere. Africa must rise against its leaders, in our own countries. SA can't provide for all of Africa, we have our own problems. We need space to fix our country.

PS: we're sending your prisoners over as well

  2. Let Malawian home affairs department start afresh with their census and reorganise its budgets to assist ALL returnees. Correction: Illegal and undocumented immigrant NOT anti-immigrants please.
