March and March Protests in South Africa

March and March Protests in South Africa

Tomorrow, South Africa marches. Here’s what’s happening and how to stay safe.

The marches are organised by civic movement March and March, alongside a coalition of civil society groups. Their core demand: government enforcement of South Africa’s immigration laws.

Marches are planned across multiple provinces. In Johannesburg, three legally approved marches take place simultaneously: in the CBD from Beyers Naudé Square to Constitution Hill, in Hillbrow from Kotze Street to the Department of Home Affairs, and in Midrand at Glen Austin. Durban’s march moves through the CBD toward South Beach. Marches are also confirmed in Cape Town, Tshwane, and other major centres.

For confirmed routes in your city, follow your local metro police on social media: JMPD, CMPD, and SAPS post live updates. News24, EWN, and IOL are also tracking events in real time.

Disruptions are expected between 7am and 4pm. Avoid affected areas if you can, follow law enforcement instructions, and report any emergencies to SAPS on 10111. If a crowd turns aggressive, move away calmly and quickly.

South Africa, stay peaceful. Stay safe.

  1. These people that approve these marches must stop inconveniece citizens, roads busy areas. Why did they not approach Goverment and other institutions about illegal immigrants. These things should not be allowed. Keep poor people out of work is a crime. This country already in shambles. They can march around their Homelands, locations and villages. Its disgusting disrespectful!

  2. The strikes have been working, all serious crimes from Q1 last to Q1 of this have all decreased significantly, besides kidnappings (because these people are kidnapping South Africans for opening spazas in their own neighborhoods and homes. But we shall overcome
