PENSACOLA, Fla. — Community concerns continue after the departure of former Pensacola Police Chief Eric Randall.

At last week’s council meeting, a city resident pointed out that all of the African American department heads are now gone.

In June of 2023, Neighborhoods Administrator Lawrence Powell and Parks & Recreation Director Adrian Stills were removed from their positions.

Last summer, City Administrator Kerrith Fiddler resigned, citing family reasons.

The citizen said last Thursday that it’s a pattern that should raise questions.

“From Lawrence, to Adrian, to Kerrith, to now Chief Randall — every person of color that has served in this current administration is no longer in existence,” Tommy White said. “Whatever reason, that should — in your gut — there should be something questioning that.”

WEAR News asked Mayor DC Reeves during Tuesday’s press conference how he would answer those concerns.

“There are people of color who have been let go, there are white directors that have been let go,” he said. “I have never, nor would I ever — and really even the insinuation is certainly offensive — that I would ever make a decision based on something like that.”

The mayor added that his track record in the community, both in and out of office, speaks for itself in terms of fairness.
