The center said that all the residents were inside having lunch when the curious bear arrived on the grounds.
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — West Knoxville had an unexpected visitor Monday morning after a black bear made its way around an assisted living facility.
Pinnacle Assisted Living Community Relations Director Tiana Schultz said the bear was spotted between Lovell Road and Hardin Valley Road.
Wildlife isn’t uncommon around the center, which is surrounded by woods, but Schultz said the bear was still “definitely a surprise.”
Schultz said all the residents were inside eating lunch when the curious visitor appeared. Local agencies were notified and are working with the center to ensure everyone’s safety, she said.

A viewer submitted another video of a bear in West Knoxville on Monday afternoon. It was spotted around 10 a.m. on Schaeffer Road at Hardin Valley Road, which is just North of the assisted living facility.
