CINCINNATI (WXIX) – Cincinnati Black Family Reunion kicked off Thursday for a weekend full of fun and education.
The four-day event celebrates the Black community and offers a variety of benefits, including a parade, live music, workshops, and more.
Saturday and Sunday are two of the biggest days for the event. The event includes nearly 130 vendors, a new parade route, new stops of the Historic Tour of Black Cincinnati, a pickleball tournament, and the event’s largest line dance.
“I love to see everyone getting along with one another, coming together for the greater cause. Not just being a vendor, but providing to the community,” said Crystal Wilborn with Joche
The event kicked off on Thursday with the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Groundbreaking Ceremony in Avondale, where his daughter, Bernice King, attended. She then spoke at the “BFR Speaks” event at Corinthian Baptist Church on Tennessee Ave.
It continued Friday with the college tour, the heritage breakfast with the President and CEO of Emerge Manufacturing Cynthia Booth, the Historic Black Tour of Cincinnati, and more.
For those bringing their kids, a Children’s Carnival will be set up at the Children’s Pavilion on Saturday and Sunday.
Attendees can also listen to the sounds of multiple gospel choirs in Sawyer Point Park on the riverfront Sunday afternoon.
