San Francisco apologizes to Black community for racism

San Francisco’s supervisors have formally apologized to the city’s African Americans and their descendants for perpetuating racism and discrimination. Supervisors also say reparations are coming. The apology was the first act that won approval from a list of 100 recommended proposals from a city committee.

The African American Reparations Advisory Committee is also proposing that every eligible Black adult receive a $5 million lump-sum cash payment and a guaranteed income of nearly $100,000 a year to help repair San Francisco’s racial wealth gap. But no actions have been taken on this and other proposals. There are about 46,000 Black residents in San Francisco. The city joins Boston, in issuing an apology to African American residents. #BLM #reparations #California #government #Black #slavery #history #SanFrancisco #cgtnamerica
