I, as a black man, have researched this, and Charlie is right about the privilege to the black middle class. No doubt. College admissions. Corporate hiring. For sure. But our inner cities are a disgrace. I don't know what the answer is. I was fortunate to get out of there. There is a culture of violence, on anti-intellectualism, of single parent households. Why?
