The Caribbean nation of Trinidad and Tobago has declared a state of emergency. The country was rocked by gang violence over the weekend. A gang leader was attacked outside a police station on Saturday. There was a retaliatory attack on Sunday that left five people dead. Trinidad and Tobago is cracking down on gang violence to prevent further escalations. The military has been called in. The police have been given special powers of search of arrest. The country hopes to address is skyrocketing murder rate and out-of-control gang activity.

When I once attended primary and secondary school, we didn't have all these criminal elements.I remember when I was a child around 6 years old, my mum and my sisters we used to park our car and walk around the capital just window shopping and that was around 7pm when the stores are closed.There were other people walking around too. The schools were all kinds of students now when I went there for holidays I look around and I don,t see Trinidad and Tobago.

One of the problems is the financial situation of the police force. Since the 1960s, police members were selected from the poor class who live amonh the criminals who know who the police members are. That cancels the effort the police makes to arrest the criminals. The police need to be removed from those places and pay them to live among the peace loving citizens. Next, being a small island, there is no secret on the citizens. Criminals know where the lawyers, judges, law enforcement orricials live. All they need to do is let these lawful people know that and the criminals are released from prison. The government has followed what the US has been doing like turning away from God and banning prsyers in schools, removing all items of religious nature from public view. Remove God and evil sets in. These are a few of what is wrong in T & T.

I'm glad my family and I left Trinidad in the late 80s. Revisited in 2001 but never again.
