Chad: Gunmen Attack Presidential Complex Hours After Top Chinese Diplomat’s Visit | Firstpost Africa
Chad has seen a deadly assault on the presidential complex on January 8. Several gunmen attempted to storm the head of state’s residence in N’djamena, just hours after China’s top diplomat met with the Central African country’s president. Authorities have said that at least 18 attackers and one security personnel were killed after members of an alleged 24-strong commando unit tried to overrun the complex. The situation was later brought under control and the government said it would annihilate those who questioned the integrity of Chad. Some reports suggested that the attackers might be from the Boko Haram terrorist group. But the government said they were not terrorists. However, this attack has raised doubts about the worsening security situation in Chad. Watch for more details.
