Mali: Russia Delivers Military Hardware to Boost Fight Against Insurgency | Firstpost Africa | N18G
Russia has delivered over 100 military vehicles to Mali last week. The delivery reportedly included several tanks, trucks, artillery systems and infantry fighting vehicles. Images on social media showed that a convoy of over 100 vehicles arrived in Bamako allegedly from Syria, where Russian troops had departed following the fall of Bashar al-Assadโs regime. Russia has been diverting its military equipment from Syria in recent months. It has diverted some equipment to Libya. Mali and Russia have also grown closer in recent years. Mali has been courting Moscow for military support. Reports suggest that this hardware delivery is for Africa Corps, Moscowโs mercenaries that are operating in the region. Watch for more.
