In the latest, Guinea Bissau’s President has threatened to expel an ECOWAS political mission sent to the country to reach a political consensus on conducting elections. Fears of a coup are rife in Guinea Bissau after a dispute over when President Embalo’s term should end. Interestingly, the Guinea Bissau President’s threat to ECOWAS comes after he met with Russian President Putin last week, who assured security assistance to the African nation.
