Travel warning issued for Caribbean ‘paradise’ spring break destination

The U.S. State Department recently issued a Level 2 travel advisory, warning travelers to exercise increased caution in the Turks and Caicos Islands due to crime. The island is known for it’s paradise like tropical beaches, white sand, clear sea ocean water and amazing views and tourist activities near their famous beaches. The alert comes as the islands prepare for spring break visitors. Most crime in the British Overseas Territory, located in the Atlantic Ocean nearly 600 miles southeast of Miami and just south of Bermuda, occurs on the Turk and Caicos’ main island of Providenciales, and local police may have limited investigatory resources, according to the State Department.

  1. Translation: If you are traveling to the Caicos and Turks Island during the month of March, you should take extreme caution. The local law enforcement is not going to be present nor patrolling the area. If you travel to this destination, be extremely cautious and do not resist if being robbed. Again, police will have minimum presence at the Turks and Caicos islands. SUPER TRANSLATION: Cancel your plans.

  2. So Turks and Caicos come out against the recent US policies regarding Ukraine and suddenly there's a new travel warning for those islands. This is what Trump's America looks like. He was suppose to drain the swamp, not turn it into a private golf course.

  3. Maybe locals are fed up. Sure violent crime is not ok at all but whatever. Tourists need to be vigilant and not wander around with their heads buried this ain't the mainland dig?

  4. People are so dense. The report did a bad job explaining things but clearly what they are saying is the area has had an increase in crime, they have a small police force that are having difficulty addressing it, and a wealthy tourist is a great target for a crime. Just lock your hotel door, don’t open the door for anyone, and don’t be out alone at night. AKA common sense anywhere.

  5. This is total wrong. Theres absolutely no crime against visitors here in the Turks and Caicos Islands. The only advisory that should be given us that visitors should not travel with firearms and ammunition here or you will be arrested due to gun laws here. Otherwise Turks and Caicos Islands is safe!

  6. Not sure if you guys understand it’s all about money, the US issues travel warnings in order to keep vacation dollars at home. The US is usually more dangerous than any other country out there.

  7. I heard justin trudeau is saying that that there is covid 19 down there! And old dr robert strang of novascotia SAYS only swim in the water with a face diaper on! Here in novascotia we have gold statues of dr robert strang novascotia tooooooooooooooooo0ppppppppppp doctor 😊

  8. Nowadays, EL SALVADOR is a secure place to visit, sunny days, beautiful beaches with and without waves along its coast and trained bodyguards.
Police on the streets, and so on. Kind of Miami or Los Angeles in the 80-90s

  9. I would never go back, the island is not safe and needs a higher advisory. It was one of my worst dream trips I've taken based on all the amazing videos. 3rd world and a lot of corruption right now…

  10. And please don’t come to Canada we don’t like you anymore. Cheers from Montreal Quebec Canada 🇨🇦 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦

  11. This is really a set up to makes US citizen not travel. I’ve been to Jamaica and Nassau Bahamas with no issue. It’s all about who you know locally. If you scary then stay your butt in the house. Cause the crime rate in the US is much higher than any Caribbean country. I live in South Florida where people literally get hit by cars and shootings happens on South Beach. The news everyday is someone got shot.

  12. ‼️Are Americans REALLY this green?! Every where has crime especially the USA and it doesn’t stop us from going over there multiple times a year… The Turks and Caicos islands is a small country made of different islands and Cays, each equally beautiful with different sceneries to offer but the same breathtaking views that attract tourists you can choose to travel to a smaller quieter island 🏝️ you don’t have to always stay in Providenciales 🙄 (where most of the crime occurs) shii happens everywhere we’re just a bit smaller so you hear about everything that does happen but it still don’t add up to the CRAZY CASES that be coming out if the United States 🥴 living out there y’all should be trained for ANYTHING but anyway this video is stupid do your research on our country and use your own opinion 🇹🇨🙏🏾❤️

  13. tldr, the local police has very little resources so if you are under any suspicion of crime they will just jail you first and ask questions later and you can potentially face up to 12 years in prison on a tropical island. This also mean if you are robbed you are on your own.
