Ghana: Mahama Visits Mali, Niger & Burkina Faso to Ease ECOWAS Tensions | Firstpost Africa | N18G

Ghana’s President John Mahama over the weekend embarked on a crucial diplomatic trip to Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso to ease tensions between ECOWAS and the three junta-led nations that recently left the regional bloc. During his visit, he met with Assimi Goïta, Abdourahmane Tchiani, and Ibrahim Traoré, discussing regional security, economic ties, and counterterrorism efforts. The Sahel nations have deepened their alliance through the Alliance of Sahel States while strengthening military ties with Russia. As a former ECOWAS chair, Mahama aims to restore dialogue and prevent regional instability. Can his mediation efforts bring these countries back to ECOWAS? Or is their split permanent? Watch the full story to know more.

  1. Let Burkina, Mali and Niger stand on their own terms. They are doing great and we need to follow their example. We don't need Western help to improve our economic conditions.

  2. A MESSAGE TO PRESIDENT TRAORE🎯
President Traore, do not Trust Ghana's President Mahatma. He's a seasoned puppet of Western imperialism. The AES states must remain resolute. Do your own thing and leave that useless ECOWAS for the corrupt agents of neocolonialism🙂

  3. The Foreign reporters just LOVE IT when an African leader urges another to follow suit. Perhaps Traore is also trying to sell the AES vision to Ghana, I won't be surprised

  4. That is what we want… Whether military, dictator or democracy we stand as one Africa…. Each country and what suits them but we are one… Ghana my beloved country is always setting example… 🇬🇭🇬🇭

  5. A family of lions is called a pride; together the pride is strong. Together we can say Presidents Abdourahamane Tchiani of Niger, Assimi Goïta of Mali, and Abrahim Traore of Burkina Faso are a fierce pride of lions. Joining the pride are Dr. Arikana Chihombori-Quao, Julius Sello Malema, President John Mahama of Ghana, President Mahamat Déby of Chad, President Bassirou Diomaye Faye of Senegal. Forerunners, but not forgotten lions of this fierce pride are Dr. Kwame Nkurumah, Thomas Sankara, Patrice Lumbumba, Maurice Mpolo and Joseph Okito, Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere. In their quest of Pan-Africanism DON’T mess with this Pride.

  6. Eco was is a failed experiment with many of its leaders having sold themselves and their people to the colonizers. The AES is on the right path. May God protect and continue to guide them!

  7. After 60 years of independence and multiple government changes, Nigeria is still a Western puppet. We see this in how they behave towards the AES group. They were even willing to send their military to these countries just to appease France, while the Ghanaian government was doing the opposite—visiting them, engaging in dialogue, and opening their country for trade with the AES. Nigeria needs to change its ways. During the colonial era, the British used Nigeria's manpower to subjugate other Africans by recruiting and training them as a military force. After independence, the British used Nigeria to undermine Nkrumah's vision of African unity

  8. Ghanaians held a ground after independence yet kept good relationships with their former colonial masters
Them doing something similar with Ecowas and the Sahel States is just amazing
    I thank God 🙌🏼
    Can't wait for what's next
