Far from being a tragedy for Africa, the demise of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) at the hands of President Donald Trump’s administration should be cause for celebration, argues Arikana Chihombori-Quao, the former ambassador of the African Union to the US.
Chihombori-Quao tells host Steve Clemons that USAID doesn’t have much to show for its decades of education and healthcare projects in Africa and often destabilised countries under the guise of environmental, human rights or social justice agendas.
And if the US is not interested in Africa, African leaders shouldn’t beg for better relations, she said. “It takes two to tango,” the former diplomat said.

Let me ask what sustainable systems she has created to teach Africans how to do any of the things she just talked about. American tax payers have a choice if they want to donate or not. USAID was theft of tax dollars. If USAID were doing so much good, they wouldn't have been hiding their work!!

I have always understood that when there is conflict or major plagues on the African continent it usually means they have resources the western world wants to exploit by pitting these against one another and if that doesn't work fast enough they will infect them with disease. The western countries are wholly responsible for this as this is their M.O/ method of operation for hundreds of years is to destabilize divide and conquer like the did /doing in the Americas.

USAID was used to destroy Manners, families, Societies, and even countries. They spread non sense everywhere in Africa and caused big mess.
Undoubtedly, the worst thing that is happening to Mother Africa at present is the fact that most of its leaders were educated by Europeans. This factor causes them to think and behave as if they are Europeans and forgetting the concerns of their people.
Corruption is too much in Africa. The real concern for me is why other countries like the USA, UK, France, Canada etc. give "Aid" if they are not getting any huge benefits.
