State of the South African Air Force: Siphiwe Dlamini

There have been ongoing public concerns that for years, the South African Air Force (SAAF) has been operating in a limited capacity to properly execute its mandate, due to budget constraints and unmaintained and grounded aircrafts. According to a recent investigative report published by News 24, it is alleged that “the Airforce has only two fighter jets, one helicopter and three fighter jet trainers as operable military aircraft. With more than 330 fighter jets, helicopters and planes used to rescue wounded soldiers have been lying idle for years awaiting repairs”. To give us a clear indication of what is the current state of the South African Air Force (SAAF), we are joined virtually by the Spokesperson of the South African Defence Force, Siphiwe Dlamini.

  1. So we have no economic growth AND a currency that is too low compared to the USD. THAT is the problem. These are problems that can be solved! I do NOT (at all) agree with the racism of the intellectual capacity, but it was true for corporation, the PW Botha quote of governance. I wonder if anyone in government loses a minute of sleep for proving him right?

  2. Sent by the ANC to come lie, they are only concerned about their public image since the DRC embarrassing situation exposed their incompetence. The ANC government is convincing itself that South Africa will never be at war or be invaded in the foreseeable future as he is saying, so therefore "let's loot the Defense budget money" because in their corrupt minds this country doesn't need military capability that much. Our leaders are beyond fools, but other fools keep voting for them

  3. Spokesperson is such a liar. Armscor and Denel are bankrupt through theft. There are only two fighter jets and 1 helicopter operational. Look into the navy too, there probably are no submarines operational nor any striker small navy ships. We will defend our sea with rubberducks supplied by Gemini. The Anc had the armsdeal. Where are all the arms? The ANC have stolen South Africa broken. This is a human rights violation. Where is the Human Rights Commision?

  4. Uhm uhm uhm….more gaslighting. The rand is weak because you governed it into oblivion and planes are dilapidated because you fired all the engineers, technical experts and mechanical maintenance staff and appointed Sipho who had only serviced his bicycle up to 1994. Idiots.

  5. North korea is way poorer than South Africa and their military is 10 times stronger, bottom line wasteful expenditure and incompetence. SA was once had the best military defence now we are vulnerable like we were in DRC, I'm shivering to think what will happen if Mzansi is being attacked

  6. Even worse the USA cut military ties with South Africa and those US made jet trainer aircraft in the background won't be able to fly unless there is a change from the US side, our country is going to 💩, whatever happened to our leadership after Mbeki that our country hasn't been self sustainable since and continues to decline further

  7. This guy is lying that there is no treat from our neighbouring countries like Botswana were there is USA military base… this guy has to be drained out from the defence.. please opposition leaders just wake up and get and get read of this embarrassing and incapable defence force

  8. Can you imagine if we had the Oceanos disaster. today Everyone would drown. Last time every person was saved by the defence force. Shows how low we have sunk I do miss the days when everything worked so well I must say
