U.S. President Donald Trump’s measures will impose a 30 percent duty on all South African imports, with the automotive sector facing the heaviest impact. A separate 25 percent levy will apply to all vehicles produced outside the U.S., severely affecting South Africa’s motor industry, which exports nearly two-thirds of its locally assembled vehicles.
