South Africa not planning to retaliate over U.S. import tariffs

South Africa is holding firm on its decision not to retaliate against the steep U.S. import tariffs set to take effect in just a few days. U.S. President Donald Trump’s measures will impose a 30 percent duty on all South African imports, with the automotive sector facing the heaviest impact. A separate 25 percent levy will apply to all vehicles produced outside the U.S., severely affecting South Africa’s motor industry, which exports nearly two-thirds of its locally assembled vehicles.

  1. Trump is putting pressure on (big) business to, in turn, influence the political scenario until we have a "USA-friendly" policy. Good business – for USA.
Can the ANC/GNU outbid the USA, moneywise ?😢

  2. I love Trump. He's like Zuma on steroids. Costly, but he's single handedly ending American dominance "world wide," I'd suppose Anc has got branches all over the world

  3. Praise God, honestly. Our relationship with the USA is bad enough (regardless of reasons). We can’t afford making things worse.
Fords doesn’t have the capacity to make more cards anyway 👍

  4. Retaliate with what ? US is the only country with which we had a positive trade deficit, the clueless corrupt government just cooked the goose which layed the golden eggs , zim 2.0 here we go😂😂😂😂

  5. South Africa has nothing that the US wants. They can get it from many other countries. If people don't realise this they know nothing about economics.

  6. South Africa why are you still depending on the western colonial perpetrators, please wake up and practice your own projects that will benefit your country like Burkina Faso 🇧🇫.
