The man hospitalized so sad I pray he did make peace and gave his life to God, he literally passed away the same month and year I was born, this video was educational but also this should’ve been to stop the drug used to encourage people to stop doing drugs but a person that does drugs need to want to stop.
As an epidemiologist I am always fascinated by other public health professionals back in the day. Thank god we know so much more now a day. The concepts are similar but the delivery can be rough.

i worked in a infection disease clinic. people kept saying its mostly gay men its not true most of the patients that have hiv where male iv users. the ones that were gays slept with street walkers and iv users

They should check blood for HIV as it is not just drug users or gay men who catch it. I'm glad there are the tablets to stop it furthering. Needle exchanges are the best option to stop it.

This country needs to be very careful how they say black community in this country because does not effect all of colour in this country should be more specific and say it how it is BLACK AMERICAN COMMUNITY because it is a sickening insult to many of us to be all classified as the blacks in this country many of us really do not like black Americans for many reasons .

I really hope that this needle exchange is still going strong. The people that say that they're "just giving needles to junkies so they can use more", don't see the whole point. The point is: IV drug users are constantly re-using dirty needles ALL THE TIME. Most are living on the streets, or they're living in sub-standard living conditions because every bit of their money goes to dope, so they're not BUYING new needles, they're just re-using dirty ones, which they then pass on to other drug users to use, which IS HOW AIDS IS SPREAD IN THIS COMMUNITY!! The whole point of the needle exchange is the stopping of the use of dirty needles, so AIDS isn't spread this way. It's NOT a "pro-IV drug-use" program at all!! People who say things like that aren't being realistic, & are being extremely narrow minded. They need to WAKE UP.
A lot of the people we see here will have contracted HIV in the 1970s or early 80s. I. Average, it takes 8-10 years for HIV to turn to AIDS.
It's interesting to look at the reasons why AIDS was never so widespread in so many other countries in the western world as it was in the USA. Most other countries were really proactive in dealing with HIV, with widespread education drives and practical measures like free condoms and needle exchanges. The Reagan administration acted like AIDS didn't exist and measure to tackle AIDS were blocked by religious nut jobs in Congress.
But perhaps most of all, most western countries don't have the extreme and crippling social inequality that the USA has. It's no surprise that the heroin and crack epidemics were much worse in the USA and so is fentanyl. Far too many people in the USA just don't have access to health care that doesn't leave them bankrupt.

The ignorance regarding needle exchange project. Would they prefer addicts catching illness as in HIV etc and be a drain on the healthcare system.
V Česku ( a většině EU ) existují v každém větším i menším městě K – centra ( kontaktní a poradenské centrum pro drogové závislé a rodiče závislých) , dochází zde k výdeji čistých jehel a dalších věcí, které potřebuješ při nitrožilní aplikaci. Také si zde můžeš vyprat prádlo, dát si kávu či čaj, jít na počítač, vysprchovat se. A funguje to tak už od druhé poloviny 90' . A Česko je v tom hodně vepředu!!
