Kenyan MP Shot Dead In ‘Targeted Assassination’ In Nairobi



An opposition MP in Kenya has been shot dead in his car on a busy street in Nairobi, in what police described as a targeted assassination.

Charles Ong’ondo Were was shot at close range by a gunman on the back of a motorbike that had trailed his car from parliament on Wednesday evening. His driver and bodyguard, who were unharmed, rushed him to hospital, but he was declared dead on arrival.

The MP for a constituency in western Kenya had recently voiced concerns that his life was in danger. President Ruto has ordered an investigation into the brazen attack, which took place at 7.30pm as Were’s car stopped at traffic lights on Ngong Road, a major thoroughfare in the capital monitored by CCTV and patrolled by traffic police.

  1. 🇰🇪Kenyans are highly suspicious the police death squad that killed youths near parliament last year, are to blame.
    Ruto must be impeached and arrested as soon as possible. He is a liar and a ruthless murderer.
