South Africa floods kill at least 49, extreme weather batters Eastern Cape

At least 49 people have been killed in South Africa’s Eastern Cape province following days of heavy rainfall and severe flooding. The extreme weather – a result of an intense cold front – has also brought snow and freezing temperatures to parts of the country. Among the victims were six students swept away when their school bus was caught in the floodwaters.

  1. Why can't SA Government declare state of emergency in Eastern Cape just like they always do for KZN. I believe if this happened in KZN, a state of emergency would have long been declared. May be it has already been declared. Correct me if I'm wrong.
