Oak Park and Del Paso Heights came together for a fun softball game, thanks to Ceaze the Moment, to celebrate Juneteenth and show that peace is possible. The event, led by Julius Douglas, had a big turnout and some unexpected support from local leaders. Even though some folks were skeptical at first, everyone left feeling good.

The OBSERVER just won America’s Best Black Newspaper for the eighth time, beating out 200 other Black-owned newspapers. This award, also known as the John B. Russwurm Award, was given at the 2025 National Newspaper Publishers Association Messenger Awards. The OBSERVER’s top-notch reporting and dedication have earned them this prestigious title for the second time in the last three years.
