Trump praises Liberian President’s English, the official language of the West African nation #news

U.S. President Donald Trump hosted five West African leaders on Wednesday for a “multilateral lunch” as the region reels from the impact of U.S. aid cuts.

The surprise meeting with leaders of Liberia, Senegal, Gabon, Mauritania and Guinea-Bissau follows the dismantling of the U.S. Agency for International Development.

After Liberian President Joseph Boakai wrapped his brief remarks at the start of the White House meeting, Trump asked the Liberian leader where he learned to speak so “beautifully.”

Trump seemed surprised when Boakai responded he learned in Liberia.

“I have people at this table can’t speak nearly as well,” Trump added.

  1. Hello Trump Translator here to help. What he really meant was "wow this african person speaks English fluently but I'm surprised because in movies they speak in clicking sounds"

  2. Sadly his supporters wouldn't know what an embarrassment he is especially with world leaders.just shame and disgrace, doesn't he gets briefing on meetings before showing how ignorant and unintelligent he is on display to everyone here and abroad..

  3. Almost no one knows ANYTHING about fcuken Liberia. Especially, the AA community – they don’t even know if its existence and why it exists, etc. (IMV – that’s their “reparation” and shld be wakanda by now tho it isn’t). So pls give me a fcuken break with the outrage. Maybe more ppl wld know about it, if it produced something, ANYTHING of consequence to the world.

  4. Why is he surprised, he knows many African presidents are educated and got their education in Africa🙄🙄I mean English is an official language in many African countries!

  5. Literally a page ripped out of the cringe manual. Didn't Chris Rock do a skit about Obama, "he speaks so well, he's so well spoken" … Trump's base are the people who have been doing this crap 😂 he reflects their mentality and normalizes their cringe

  6. Drumpf go back to epstein island you buffoon .
Where you can talk like you always do
" me tarzan , you jane want to peel my banana ?" Ooba , gubba nobba nobba …..

  7. To Trump's credit, Liberians speak mostly Kreyol. You can tell by his accent. Anyways Liberia assisted in the smuggling of blood diamonds and was ran by Charles Taylor who was a vicious war lord. Also Liberia spread Ebola and did nothing about it until the world took noticed and shoved them out of the way to keep it from spreading

  9. People in the comment section. There are people in America who can’t speak as well as the Liberian president. He wasn’t surprised that he spoke English but how well he speaks it. Come to the south in Florida or to Louisiana and hear how the Cajuns speak. FML

  10. 😂😂😂😂 Trump probably still think that people get shipped into this country to work as slaves from Liberia and they speak like tribals. What kind of stupid question was that! And why would you even ask that to someone who doesn't even speak English as first language it's like questioning their ability to speak.

  11. Ufffff… that was hard to watch! I felt second hand embarrassment. How can he be a president and not know which countries of Africa have English as an official language? And he didn’t bother to do some research before the meeting.😮
