Chihombori-Quao: African leaders need to wake up | The Bottom Line

Africa’s leaders have no one to blame but themselves if they cannot reach equitable trade deals with the United States, argues the former representative of the African Union to the US, Arikana Chihombori-Quao.

Chihombori-Quao tells host Steve Clemons that US President Donald Trump’s “trade, not aid” policy opens up “an opportunity that African leaders were not awarded by the colonisers, the European nations, when they set out to exploit the continent of Africa”.

She adds that African leaders should not allow themselves to be bullied by Trump, “because he has what you need, you also have what he wants”.

  1. I am not sure if that goes to the right direction.
The manipulation,”where did you learn English ?” African leaders looks like they are having job interview.and etc.

  2. This lady seems to have a beef with Europe trying to think that a guy who sees African countries as a**holes countries…now after learning that they( African countries) do have rare earth he badly needs …Trump, all he needs is the minerals…not Peace…for example, the hoax about brokering talks between M23/AFC and DRC…the US government is the only one who believes in it. Not my People of East DRC at all.
For Ms. "Arikhana", are you really inviting her as an expert on Africa issues, what country was she representing then? The US or…President Mugabe Zimbabwe's country? you could have gotten a more qualified person to help you better…or as an ex "dubious"- appointee-ambassador with ZERO previous analyst experience on international geopolitical issues facing Africa by her girlfriend Mrs Zuma? I hate when she tried to cling to that position by attacking and bashing the very institution he was supposed to have" represented"!🤔🤑

  3. Don't you people get it…?
Africa's Natural Resources are intended to benefit the inhabitants of The Motherland.
Arikana chiquranbo needs to focus on Africans being Really &Truly Independent not to be following in the footsteps of their Natural Enemies.
"What you don't know, you don't know" ..!

Take Lessons from Burkina 🇧🇫 Faso

  4. Still not convinced this woman is genuine enough.
She doesn't truly comprehend the American business mentality and approach…Ingenuous Africans….
    "The Miseducated Negroes"… !
It's all about… Money for most of these Africans who pose as leaders on the world stage…!

    Another Plethora of Balderdash 😮😢

  5. The beggars are still on their knees begging to be at Trump's table of acceptance! They need to wake up and see that this man is nothing more than disrespectful to black people in general but especially to Africa! Who has labeled s***hole Nations! He doesn't want aid or trade would he wants is to plunder Africa resources look what he did with the DRC Republic that tells you exactly what his true intentions are which is not to help Africa but to continue the same cycle of plundering Africa's resources without benefiting Africa.

  6. Ramaphosa knew he is dealing with a child who can easily throw a tantrum and drop talks before they even start. He did well by softening him down. It would have been the same as Zelensky. It is easy for her to say that. But strategy and psychology is important. It is called chess.

  7. African sold their soul and birth rights again, from years of colonialism and imperialism Africa will take centuries to recover again just when I thought there was hope on the continent.

  8. Trump will never treat Russia, China, or the UAE in the same manner as he addressed African leaders. Therefore, it's not about readiness, ignorant woman, but about his tendency to act like a bully. Consequently, no African leader should feel obligated to visit the United States again.
