Trump Targets Nigerians in Visa Crackdown on Birthright Citizenship | Firstpost Africa | N18G

In a renewed immigration crackdown, the Trump administration has issued a warning to Nigerians against traveling to the U.S. with the primary intent of giving birth — a practice aimed at securing automatic citizenship for their children under the U.S. Constitution. Nigeria remains among the top countries involved in so-called “birth tourism.” The U.S. Embassy in Nigeria has also introduced tougher visa rules, including issuing mostly single-entry, short-validity visas. This move is part of broader restrictions targeting African nations, including higher visa fees, tighter interview rules, and increased digital screening — all under Washington’s push to curb immigration loopholes.

  1. Birthright citizenship was written to grant the newly freed slaves that were already in America citizenship after the Civil War. It was never intended for the world to use America as a maternity ward and a cheat to citizenship. Traveling to another country is a privilege, not a right. The only people who have a right to birthright citizenship in the US in today's age are its legal citizens.

  2. Birthright citizenship was brought about to protect the children of slaves were talking African-Americans here this was not intended for illegal immigrants. birthright citizenship is unconstitutional!

  3. More conservatives in the Supreme Court is needed as well! If not! Liberals will destroy America with illegals! A smaller population is mandatory for our survival! Too many people raise the price of everything…greedy corporations see dollar signs from this overcrowded population! Illegals have to go home!

  4. NO IT'S NOT A RIGHT. BIRTH RIGHT CITIZENSHIP IS DONE FOR NOW AND HOPEFULLY PERMEANT.
YOU SHOULD WORRY ABOUT YOUR OWN COUNTRY AND STOP TALKING LIKE YOU KNOW BETTER THAN OUR PRESIDENT. YOU DON'T KNOW CHIT.
_BUT THANKS FOR PUSHING LIES SO I CAN REPORT YOU TO HOMELAND SECURITY.

  5. This is not true. The 14th Amendment is for US citizens not immigrants and it was originally written for descendants of slaves.
This false narrative about your child being a US citizen if born on US soil had to be created by immigrants because this has NEVER been true!

All children born on US soil to immigrants citizenship needs to revoked! Point blank period. It's fraud!

  6. Not only Nigerians give birth in the US. Statistically, birth tourism are practiced by all countries. Indians, Asias, Africans etc. am not so sure about Europeans , but every country has violated this rule.

  7. The US 14th Amendment is strictly for the "babies of slaves"– Foundational Black Americans. President Trump made this crystal clear, and that immigrants coming to the US just to drop off anchor babies will be prohibited.

The gravy train has come to an end with immigrants having anchor babies in the US to secure citizenship.

  8. Nigerians need to stay at home (in Nigeria) and build up their own country.

They are too busy bouncing all over the world, while their own country suffers from "brain drain".

They need to focus on making Nigeria a great place to live. That's never going to happen if Nigerians desire to live in other countries.

  9. Nigerian taxi man tried to scam me thinking because I am black I was an immigrant and not born in the UK he seemed to think I didn't know where I was lol
