Outrage over Gayton McKenzie’s utterances

Outrage over Gayton McKenzie’s utterances

ActionSA says crime has no expiry date. This follows Sports, Arts and Culture Minister Gayton McKenzie’s alleged racist remarks in old social media posts.

They relate to apartheid-era slurs against black South Africans. The party has lodged a complaint against McKenzie with the South African Human Rights Commission.

The EFF has called for his immediate removal as Minister.

Political analyst Dr Dale McKinley joins us for a discussion on this issue.

  1. They want McKenzie's head over words, but seem to do nothing over senior ANC ministers, whose hands are deep in the cookie jar, or head of an SOE caught offering a bribe to a journalist.
Sticks and stones seem to do nothing, but words definitely hurt you

  2. LOL, was it racism when Trevor Noah threw the k-word around in his comedy special "That's Racist"? 😅 We all know Gayton is not and can’t be racist. This is just politicking and "selective outrage' at its best. Honestly, as an EFF member, I never thought I’d see the day I’d be defending Gayton… but this political campaign is just plain silly. So if we’re saying Gayton is racist, then what , he actually hates his mother’s side, his baby mama, Kenny Kunene, and his own Black children? 😂

  3. Gayton is a victim of jealousy for his success of putting a formidable coloured dominated party, which believes in practical solutions in the best interest of the country. In this era of coalitions gvt which will be with us for a foreseeable future in rsa, the coloured vote will be very crucial, and it appears that the PA is increasingly capturing the coloured vote to the detriment of particularly the DA in western cape whiich is threatened by the PA electoral gains and eff target, nothern cape hence the DA and EFF are gunning for the firing of Gayton. The cape independence activists also view Gayton as an obstacle because an increasingly growing PA will be an obstacle to a popular demand for an independence cape via a referendum. The minority vote of coloureds nationally and the coloured's majority vote in western cape and in nothern cape is the reason for the attack on Gayton. With Gayton's presence in the political limelight, it is now costly to get a coloured vote, hence a concerted attack of Gayton.

  4. "Crime has no expiry date" yet he's a convicted gangster?
Personally, I believe that criminals can reform but that is a little bit ridiculous. And anyways he's still horrible, racist, xenophobic and zionist now.

  5. I wonder how fragile I have to be to care being called a racial slur, or any slur for that matter.

People should be free to say what they want because at least we can now know exactly not to associate with them, or associate with them. I'll take an honest racist any day because at least I can steer clear of them, unlike the pretentious snake who's gonna pretend to be my friend only to do what the ANC has done to this country.

It is the government that is not allowed to discriminate because logically there is no discrimination when it comes to paying tax, so you can't distribute the benefits unevenly. Constitutionally discrimination is in conflict with the best interests of the child. And morally because you can't judge one based on immutable characteristics. You are however fully allowed morally to discriminate based on experience, and being open about your discrimination allows the other person to steer clear of you.

Put fence in your house, that is discrimination because you are saying only people you invite can come. Providing only for you family is 100% discrimination. A man choosing his wife or girlfriend, and in some cases wife and girlfriends is discriminating against all the other women he is not choosing. Discrimination is great by an individual/ community that is not tax funded.

And yes if it is true it is perfectly ok, a survival instinct that tell you not to let an ANC cadre in your house because most likely they are a criminal.

  6. Criticising someone for tweets he wrote 15 years ago, is mentally retarded. They bothered no one for 15 years so there's clearly and obviously something else behind this. Anyone attacking him about it, is childish through and through.

  7. WOW, the hypocrisy is mind boggling. Malema can call for the killing of whites with absolute impunity and support from the ANC but McKenzies use of an old and culturally harmless word causes outrage and scandal. Shame on all of you!!!!!!!

  8. Malema also uses the K word…Kill, Kill, Kill. He is not suitable or appropriate. Hate speech and incitement to violence. Incitement to Murder is probably more serious than an insult.
