US Deploys Warships & Submarine to Caribbean Amid Maduro Tensions | News9

Washington is flexing military muscle in the Southern Caribbean, deploying seven U.S. warships and a nuclear-powered submarine with 4,500 sailors and marines. Officially framed as an operation against Latin American drug cartels, the move has raised tensions with Venezuela, which sees the buildup as a direct threat. This comes as the U.S. doubled its bounty on President Nicolas Maduro to $50 million, accusing him of narco-trafficking. The naval force includes the USS San Antonio, USS Iwo Jima, and USS Fort Lauderdale — all capable of launching helicopters and Tomahawk missiles. Analysts say the move is “too big to be just about drugs, too small for an invasion.”

  1. Ticonderoga Class Cruiser’s are very impressive warships. My father would tell me when the few nuke powered cruisers would go into Russia’s AO the Russians would beat feet. South American military leaders know exactly what this means.
