Over the past two years, two Ghanaian families have been in court, seeking justice, against secondary boarding schools they accuse of negligence in the deaths of their children.
Between May 2023 and February 2024 six students, across Ghana’s secondary boarding schools, died in incidents their families say could have been prevented.
In a landmark ruling, Ghana’s High Court found Achimota High School negligent in the death of 15-year-old Kevin Moses—a decision the school is now appealing.

It happens a lot. RIP
This is so sad
I knew Ghana National College will be part. Hmm
A big shame on the school tho.
All they know is to claim great name but act like they’re illiterate. Shame again on them.
And may God judge this case.
Ghana , our health system is a mess , i am a physician assistant but never happy working as a health practitioner, we lack the facility and equipments to handle simple cases , at this age of mother Ghana we shouldn’t still be struggling with severe malaria cases causing child death . This school clinics can be designed into school clinics were lab investigations can be done , and also at least a physician assistant or a medical doctor need to be present at each school . Secondly SHS students should stop faking illness , they do that a lot that even if someone is seriously ill , they think it’s one of their dramas , sorry to the families , it’s sad when someone die from such conditions that we know perfectly something could have been done .
The Lord is very concerned about the deaths in Ghana as a whole. Most schools have poor sanitation and take a long time to respond to children being sick. Schools are overcrowded and teachers are overworked and tired and as a whole Ghana looks as sickness as low-key but funeral celebrations as party time! The government should make it mandatory that school without proper sanitation should not be allowed to open as school buildings.

Most Ghana boarding schools like doing that rather than calling parents to come for the child or permission for the child to go to the hospital
Honestly, you don't want to be sick in boarding school
This is honestly so accurate in high schools. Housemistresses barely pay attention to the students except the ones they are close to. They are mostly rude sometimes. When I got sick and my mum was requesting for an exeat, my mum had to literally come to the school and forcefully take me out of the school because they refused to let me go…mind you I was sick
One passed away in my former school it's sad
That's how they are…the head and the teachers are wicked
Mom your child was rushed to hospital on Friday and u waited till Sunday to go to the hospital?
If we Ghana do something great, how about you come record it too.
In ghana here, the governmental body are all following money,I know one doctor who owns a hospital buh left the hospital for someone to follow politics bcus of money recently he got a plane crash…African leaders are not helping their at all
This is so sad but very true, the healthcare of students in boarding houses is so poor. I remember I had surgery while in school, during class sessions, in the schools hospital. Sadly, my wound wasn’t well treated, I cried and begged my house mistress to let me go home for better treatment but she boldly said, “then you’ll die here” it was ONLY BY GODS grace that term went by so fast. My mum would come around, yet they wouldn’t let me see her talk less of taking me home. Eventually, school vacated and miraculously, when I got to the hospital, I was told my hand was actually in the process of getting rotten due to improper care and negligence, if I’d kept longer my hand would’ve been amputated. And it’s one of the schools mentioned in the video. My heart goes out to these parents. May God comfort you all.
Unfortunately, a similar case also happened in AGISS last year.
Y’all should note that this are not current cases. It’s a documentary of past cases that were already covered by Ghanaian media.
The way you are looked at for being sick is like you are nothing
The school appealing this very obvious case of negligence when they should’ve settle YEARS ago and given the family a very hefty fee if they wanted to avoid the legal things is crazy to me. Idk what kind of useless lawyer is giving them such useless advice. My condolences to these families.
Investigate these boarding houses and their sipervisors. I dont think its Malaria its deeper. They're just blaming the mosquito .
But you mother, if you get a message that your child is ill in the boarding school, you pick up your bag and go straight there. Dont give a toss. It's your child. Trust mo one with your child's life.
That is what is going on in our various schools. You will call the house masters they won’t pick up to tell you how your ward is doing
6th December 2025 another death in Achimota school under similar circumstances. Rest in peace Ella 🙏🏾
