Foreign Affairs Minister Karamoko Jean-Marie Traoré announced the bold move live on national television, calling the U.S. proposal “indecent and contrary to the values of dignity.” Hours later, the U.S. Embassy suspended visa services in Ouagadougou — a move Traoré’s government labeled as “blackmail.”
