Senegal Releases Report on French Colonial Massacre of African Soldiers | Firstpost Africa

Senegal has released a report into the 1944 Thiaroye Massacre, one of the worst atrocities of French colonial history, where African troops were killed for protesting against alleged racism and pay delays. These soldiers, who had fought for France in World War II, were massacred by French forces at the Thiaroye military camp near Dakar. The official report, presented to President Bassirou Diomaye Faye, called the killings “premeditated” and accused France of altering records to conceal the truth. While the French military said that 35 to 75 soldiers were killed, historians assert that the actual death toll could be around 400. Senegal has long demanded an official apology and a proper investigation from France. Although France acknowledged the massacre in 2024, questions remain about the victims’ identities and burial sites.

  1. Whether it was 37 or 400 African soldiers that were executed that day. Murder is still murder and it was done by the French military. Senegal and the other nations mentioned would have to fight tooth and nail for France to release the real papers. Even if they do, they already stated that some of it has been altered. They should just continue doing their own research and bring forth all that they have found. Rest in peace to all those tragically executed after fighting so hard for their colonizers not to get colonized themselves.

  2. The cruelty of the Frenchman colonizers empire Republic against black people is imaginables, more far than human beings can describe?
The Frenchman atrocities in Áfrican Continent is overwhelming, from the North to the East Coast, west and centre Áfrican, to the Shouth África, elsewhere indiscriminatory because they never thought their presence in Áfrican soil is for ever , no God will stopping them continues doing arbitries abuses against black folks, that's the Senegalese people claiming now since 80 deacad ago is just small part of the barbaric criminals actions Frenchman colonizers empire Republic did it against entire Áfricans. God damn Frenchman colonizers empire Republic Paris. Thanks.

  3. Africa is the motherland, origin of all human beings. The Bible says honor your mother and it will be well with you, but Erupopean colonizers choose and did the opposite. Don't be surprised if God's judgment falls on europe….it's not even a question of "if" but "when".

  4. FRENCH HAVE NO FORMER COLONIE IN AFRICA,,,
    EGLAND TOO,,,,
IN AFRICA WE CALL THEM AGGRESSIOR WHO CAME TO AFRICA,,,,,,
FRENCH WAS COLONIZE BY ROMAN FOR 1000 YEARS,,,,
WHY YOU DON,T CALL FRENCE,,,,, FORMMER ROMAN COLONIE,,,,

  5. Instead of being greatful for fighting along side them they killed them for a just cause these are the unsung heroes of Africa which white historian never documented in history text books The same racist French president macron accused Ibrahim Traore and AES countries for being ungrateful to France for fighting jihadist in the Sahel region yet they don't want to acknowledge their evil deeds which they did to Africans Germany and Italy paid reparations to Jews and allied forces after the second world war If Africa demand the same we are told it's history we should forget and move forward

  6. The massacre was a big betrayal by France those soldiers were the ones who fought the Germany forces and kicked them out of French territory.
Same on France Africa can't forgive the perpetrators for the heinous crimes committed.

  7. Europe being Europe. Italian Fascists gassed 300 monks to death at the Debre Libanos Monastery in Ethiopia in 1937. The monks had taken shelter in a cliff cave on a bend in the Blue Nile gorge. Africa should always remember these atrocities.

  8. Africa should really have nothing to do with France, England, Belgium and America . How much more do they need to suffer and die under these white people's evil hands ? Colonial rule is NOT OVER in Africa it takes other forms today

  9. Sometimes we need to understand how the Europeans think. They are desperate people for survival since their creation. They are a weaker race genetically and energetically, thus they have to use all means necessary no matter how disgusting it may be to stay in control.
Those soldiers would have been threats to their imperialism if they were brought back to Africa because they had been killing other whites in Europe and had liberated their minds of inferiority.

  10. Europeans have neither the will or desire to coexist with Africans as fellow humans…their smile is their cunning… to get close enough to get what they want… once they do, 💥…off with you… but unfortunately, most of you Africans love that European more than you love yourselves… YEAAAAH i said it!
