Organisers claim several individuals, including Kanu’s family and legal team, were arrested, though authorities have not confirmed this. Kanu, 58, holds British citizenship and leads the banned Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), which advocates secession for Nigeria’s southeast region. His supporters say his detention is politically motivated. Despite repeated arrests, Kanu remains a symbolic figure for many, particularly in southeastern Nigeria.
