US strikes spread fear among Caribbean fishermen

At least 37 people have been killed in US attacks on boats suspected of carrying drugs from South America to the US. Most of those attacks happened in the Caribbean sea, off the coast of Venezuela, heightening the tension between the South American nation and the US. Stuck in the middle of the strikes is Trinidad and Tobago, a small island nation with a multimillion-dollar fishing industry and thousands of fishermen who now find themselves in the line of fire.

Al Jazeera’s Julia Galiano reports.

  1. No one tell those two boys to get involved in illegal activity as what our Prime Minister Kamla Persad Bissessar said: "If anyone is being caught in any illegal activities in the north of Venezuela, YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN!" No more crying over Ian Alleyne Crime Watch programme! The families is to blame for the death of those 2 boys involved. There were silent when they started to get involved. Why you want the population to sympathize with you because of what is going on just to build a nasty PNM movement against the UNC Government?????!!!!!

  2. I feel insumted as a West I dian to hear an English translation for a person speaking English. I don't see it being done for other English speakers with more complicated accents.

  3. War on drugs that’s a joke. There has never been a war on drugs, if America does not have a demand the population for drugs than it does not exist. It’s just an agenda by the u. S, as usual, these devils care nothing about humanity

  4. We are an English speaking country but to others when we speak our thick dialect and not standard English …it is sometimes not understandable to foreigners …humble yourselves guys lol

  5. USA president is out of his mind, if the previous was affected by dementia this one doesn't even have a brain to affect with it. Trump: the president who supports genocide and trows bombs labeled with peace.

    This is insane.

  6. Get rid of all of them by any means necessary…..why they making it seem like he's jus shooting down anybody he see on the water they use drones to identify them first if you traffic drugs you deserve jail or death

  7. I am Colombian, and believe me, this guys are not fishermen. Some are, but some are drug smugglers, and yes, we approve their taken down. They are no good people and must go to heaven instead.
