This programme has been granted access to territory held by M23, a Rwandan-backed militia whose insurrection has devastated the east of the country.

They now find themselves ruling millions of people.

Since launching their current offensive three years ago, M23 have captured huge swathes of Congo’s mineral-rich North and South Kivu regions, including the key city of Goma.

  1. I wished all news outlets would present the situation with the same clarity. If they showed full, real context, people would understand what's truly happening

  2. Belgium is the source and fuel of this conflict. They hide themselves behind Burundi and congo armies with ammunitions and troops for flying drones killing civilians. But m23 are fighting for their lives

  3. Since when is it okay to illegally squat somebody's house on the premise that you can clean it better? These are no rebels. M23 is a criminal organization guided by Paul Kagame to loot and plunder minerals resources in the DRC.

  4. Why do they keep referring to America's brokered failing peacetalk as if the US did wrong for trying? They at least paid attention to this human crisis and attempted to obtain peace. Thats more than anyone has done and definitely more than the two leaders who started this war.

  5. In 2013, the MONUSCO Rapid Response Force was created by the UN Security Council to drive M23 back to Rwanda. Under the capable command of Brazilian General Alberto Santos Cruz, they succeeded. Now, a decade later, the UN Security Council needs to once again take action to preserve peace in the Congo.

  6. They have the same goals but can't decide if they want to work together. This sounds like a very African thing because everyone wants to be rich first and everyone is greedy. I am saying this as an African and through my own observation.

  7. there is a difference btw new normal and organization yes the m23 are organized but the peace that the city is experiencing is because m23 victory so u can as well say m23 was the cause of the unrest the DRC govt might not be good but lets be real no matter how corrupt a govt is atleast they do things am not from DRC but this rebels control illegal minnig take profit am sure even exploit from minners , they are not revolutionaries they shouldnot be treated as one instead the DRC ppl should find way and put a govt that can handle this ppl because RN the govt and m23 are not too beneficial to the ppl just the people living to there existing fate ,as for rwanda i have no words its one thing to be exploited by westerners and another by african RN RWANDA flourish while DRC crumble i wonder how some humans live with that .its a thing to suffer your own ppl but it takes a monster to exploit what is not his .may God help africa

  8. Bro stop this propaganda that this is the most expensive peace mission in history yet we know they are taking gold from congo and other mineral in the name of peace keeping. Shame on you for giving such image. We know the UN can't leave our country since they are benefiting a lot from us. Shame on to the Americans and Our tumbocrats leaders.

  9. Hello!
The government of the DRC lies that all Congolese who speak Kinyarwanda especially the Tutsi and other DRC people do not support tribalism who have risen up and fought for their rights, are Rwandans, but that is not true. Let us remember the reason why the people speak Kinyarwanda live in the eastern part of the DRC; in 1884-1885, the European countries conducted Berlin conference was held in Berlin divided Africa into new borders for better colonization, which resulted in the western land of Rwanda being given to the DRC on the Belgian conspiracy that wanted to expand the land it colonized, which resulted in the Rwandans who lived there becoming Congolese, the problem is that the DRC government does not recognize them, saying that they are Rwandans who must return to Rwanda, especially the Tutsi; Fardc, Fdlr Fdnb & Wazarendo stole their cows, took their land, raped their women, killed them, burned them alive. They surrounded the Banyamulenge to the level they were unable to go to the markets to buy food Hunger was about to kill them, but M23 and MRDP Twirwaneho liberated them in the war that reached Uvira, but only until the DRC government sent drones to shoot the Banyamulenge people.

The reason the Burundian government supports the DRC is based solely on ethnic ideology, because Rwanda is led by a Tutsi while Burundi is led by a Hutu, which causes Burundi to hate Rwanda.

The DRC government, in order to mislead foreigners, lies that the war in their country is based on the theft of natural resources, but it is not because there is a terrible injustice and that is why the M23 took up arms to defend themselves.

so that the Washington and Doha agreements are respected unless the DRC government stops the killings, and America helps to destroy Wazarendo and the FDLR, and the Burundian army leaves the DRC because they are complicit.

  10. DRC is just too big to be governed from Kinshasa. That is the reality. The country should be divided into four countries. We can't force a system which has failed to work over sixty years.
