In the besieged city of El-Fasher in Darfur, the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have reportedly carried out mass killings following their takeover of the city. Human rights monitors report hundreds of civilians, including women and children, killed at maternity hospitals and displacement camps, with ethnic targeting suspected. Thousands are fleeing to nearby towns such as Tawila, and the humanitarian situation has deteriorated drastically amid siege conditions and restricted aid. As the 2023-onward civil war in Sudan continues, El-Fasher has become a grim symbol of untold suffering and potential war crimes.
