Palestinian asylum seekers disembark in South Africa after long ordeal – Imtiaz Sooliman weighs in

The Palestinians who travelled to South Africa as asylum seekers have finally disembarked after spending nearly 12 hours on the tarmac at OR Tambo International Airport in Kempton Park.

The Embassy of the State of Palestine in South Africa confirms that it has been working since the very first moment in direct and close coordination and collaboration with the South African relevant authorities to resolve the humanitarian situation involving the arrival of 165 Palestinian citizens coming from Gaza via Ramon Airport through Nairobi without any prior notice or coordination.
For more on this we speak to the Founder of Gift of the Givers, Imtiaz Sooliman.

  1. Gaza does not have a working airport, so no one can fly directly from Gaza to any country. Anyone who says they “came from Gaza by plane” must have travelled through another country first, like Egypt.

So, if a person claims they travelled from Gaza to Tunisia and then to South Africa, it’s normal for immigration or security officers to check their story. This is because:

    Gaza has no airport,

  2. Could be Hamas soldiers family members who have killed Israelis and been evilly awarded because the Hamas Government/Terrorists awards them money and a home for their evil actions. If their family member is a Hamas soldier or linked to the evil organisation and either locked up or killed they would be looked after by the corrupt Hamas leaders.

  3. A week ago, the Palestinians were still complaining that those that needed to leave, or wanted to, could not because Israel wouldn't let them.

Now that an organisation has found a way to get them out, and negotiated with Israel military to let them through, the Palestinian leadership and Al Jazerra are complaining that it's an Israel plot to cleanse Gaza of Palestinians.

    That seems highly unlikely:

    1. The number that can get out this way is insignificant alongside the over two million people in Gaza .

    2. It's only accessible to those with money.

    3. If it was a plot to cleanse Gaza then it would be free to everyone.

    They sound like professional whingers.
If Israel had turned the buses back then they would be complaining about that.

  4. I wonder why none of their Arab neighbours wanted to take them in? Is it because they've tried to overthrow the government in virtually every country that accepted them? I'm just spitballing here, but maybe. Also, is healthy to slightly overweight the new definition of famine?

  5. When something is called ‘mysterious,’ it often means there’s more going on than we’re told. Sometimes what looks accidental might actually be planned long before. So it’s better to stay observant and wait for the full picture.

And one thing I’ve noticed: many Palestinian refugees are sent to Christian-majority countries like Europe, the U.S., or South Africa. Meanwhile, nearby Muslim-majority countries rarely take them in, even though they share similar culture and traditions.

And when some immigrants can’t adapt to the host country’s culture, it can lead to tension and problems for the citizens who welcome them. It’s a complex issue, but worth paying attention to.

  6. Just now they will be marching in the streets and demanding for shria law to be enforced in south africa. The shria law they can't stand in their own countries, they will want to impose it on other countries. They call us kuffar and infidels but they run to our countries. Its already happening in England. They are marching everyday demanding to be recognized. Such a shame our politicians have a price. This will have very diabolical consequences.

  7. It turns out that the Gazans who flew to South Africa and weren't allowed to disembark were scammed by… Wait for it…
    A Palestinian NGO called Al-Majd

The South African authorities have approved the entry of 153 Palestinians into the country and issued them 90-day tourist visas, after their trip was organized by an "unregistered organization that defrauded them by exploiting the tragic humanitarian conditions, solicited money, and arranged the trip irresponsibly."

  8. 9. Muslims in Arab nations doesn't give citizenship to other Muslims from non arab nations wants christian nation to take them??
This is islamic invasion..wake up people

  10. I don't think South Africa government have anything to do with this. Just think about it.
These Palestinians left Gaza and crossed into Israel, where they were put on a chartered plane at Ramon Airport on Wednesday.

The plane headed southwards and landed at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. It later took off and landed at Oliver Tambo International Airport on Thursday morning.

South African immigration officials, who were caught flat footed with their unexpected arrival, kept them waiting on the tarmac for 12 hours as they desperately tried to find a solution.

They were later allowed entry on compassionate grounds.

Some right groups have put the blame on Israel, accusing it of attempting to push Palestinians out of Gaza.

However, Israeli officials, in their response, stated that the flight had been arranged via a legal corridor by a body called Al-Majd organisation with full Israel cooperation.

Israeli military body Cogat, which controls Gaza's crossings, said in a statement: "The residents left the Gaza Strip after Cogat received approval from a third country to receive them."

Palestinian Ambassador to South Africa on the other hand stated that the group left Israel's Ramon Airport and flew to the country via the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, "without any prior note or coordination".

A statement from the embassy further stated that "an unregistered and misleading organization had exploited the tragic humanitarian conditions of our people in Gaza, deceived families, collected money" and sent them to South Africa.

Investigation by Al-Jazeera revealed that a shadowy organisation called Al-Majd has been sending questionnaires via social media to Gazans asking them about their jobs and which country they would prefer to settle in.

    Sounds like a M0ssa9 operation😂😂
