For the past two years, conflict in Mali has been intensifying. The army, backed by Russian mercenaries from the Africa Korps, the successors to the Wagner Group, is fighting armed groups that now control around two-thirds of the country. This escalation has triggered a massive exodus: since October 2023, more than 300,000 Malians have fled to eastern Mauritania, with even more heading to Algeria. They are escaping violence linked to Malian forces and their Russian allies, as well as blockades by JNIM jihadists, affiliated with Al-Qaeda, who have cut off supplies to towns, all the way to Bamako. The Malian army denies all accusations of abuse, saying its operations only target armed groups, particularly jihadists. A few months ago, we reported that Wagner, the Russian private military company, had rebranded itself as the Africa Corps. A new Name, but not a better reality for the people of Mali. Increasing numbers of people have been fleeing their country. Some carry evidence of the violence with them. Verified footage is showing what remains of the marketplace in the Village of Feyadji in Mali’s Mopti region. It’s alleged that the Africa Corps burned it down. While images of atrocities like that are rare, there is no shortage of testimony that paints an even darker picture. Our report from the Malian border in Mauritania brings more voices to light.

Bad reporting.
Why would the Malian Armed forces use violence against civilians ? If that is true , why wasn't it addressed further?
yeahh, bring malians to germany noww
It's a false narrative meant to discredit Malian authority and the African core, and because Dw and the West as a whole were banished and chased awey from the region because the were a burden and not helpfull to the people of these countries, now they are manufacturing these unsubstantiated lies.
Yet you will have folks in Africa and in the Diaspora praise these military regimes who let these monsters in without improving the security situation in their countries.
It makes sense that they're calling themselves Africa Korps. Wagner's founder, Dmitry Utkin, was a huge fan of the real thing, das Deutsche Afrikakorps (* 1941 – † 1943).
Western copium 😊

It's time for west to understand that africans hate those who help them and respect those who opress them and act accordingly
None of our business….Mali will & can sort out its own problems. Remember the saying "dammed if youdo, dammed if you dont"

😳🤔😡, AFRICA HISTORY has always been the example of the timeless African Proverb- When Brothers fight to the death, A Stranger Comes and inherits their Property 😳🤔😡
We know where the news comes from The west have been engage in spreading false narrative against Africa for the past 500 years after looting Africa and still now
Blaming Russia for the failure of their government is something else.
Just to clarify, is this violence blamed on the Russians themselves or on locally recruited people operating in liaison with the Russians? If the Russians did this themselves, this is both a huge scandal and it should be comparatively easy to prove. Otherwise it's still bad, but plays in the dynamics of the conflict.
My African people, please stop this fighting. From South Africa.
Thank you for sharing!!!
So DW a german station never would have thought😊

The legendary irrationality and levity of africans led them to the hurdles they face.
Overemotional and impulse-driven decisions take one to very bad places.
As someone who has been following Mali news for years from the ground up, I’m sorry I do not trust this report at all.
