U.S. interventions in Latin America and the Caribbean haven’t always gone as planned

President Trump’s pressure campaign against Venezuela is the latest in a long history of U.S. intervention in Latin America and the Caribbean. But it hasn’t always been successful.

  1. No intervention of USA in any Latin-American country has ever been postive. And you purposedly listed many of the best examples, but all the dictaroships that killed hundred of thousands are by far the worse examples that wen according to plan for USA but paid with blood by Latin-America. And by the way Fidel was not a comunist, USA pushed him by negating to negotiate and launching that invasion. Fidel took over Batista in 1959 and did not change the constitution until 1975, that's not a comunist from the start. But yes, it eventually turned that way because of USA.

  2. We have to remember also those terribles Kissinger-Abrams years.
After 1973 violent coup d'etat against democratically elected Chile's Salvador Allende. Kissinger organized that's known as Condor Operation for the south cone.
In there participated violently wild militay proxys dictatorship. (Chile, Argentina, Paraguay, Bolivia, Uruguay, Brazil), that killed hundred of thousands; many even faced gruesome deaths, when were dropped alive to the sea from militaries aircrafts.

  3. Argentina 1976-1983, there was Operation Condor sponsored murderous Military Junta that killed 2.000 argentinians of the jewish religion, (between others thousands non jewish), it's well documented by rabbi Sergio Berman.
Even when there were these many of his co-religionists victims, Kissinger stayed silent, he didn't care at all.
Only when pres. Carter came over, he started arms embargoes of the militar junta and sending Patricia Derian as his special human rights envoy, only then kidnappings, tortures and killings started to calm down.

  4. This is bullshit. Not gonna talk about the cóndor operation? Thousands tortured and killed in military dictatorships prometed by the us. Dont try to frame it as positive. The us wants Latin America on its knees.

  6. And even before the rise of Soviet Communism revolution in 1917, General Smedley Butler told why US invaded Latin America in speeches and his 1935 book "War is a Racket" :

"I spent 33 years and 4 months in active military service … And during that period I spent all my time being a high-priced muscle man for big business, for Wall Street and the bankers … In short, I was a racketeer for capitalism.

I helped make Mexico, especially Tampico, for American oil interests in 1914. I helped make Haiti and Cuba a descent place for the National City Bank boys to collect revenues in. I helped roping in a half dozen Central America republics for the benefit of Wall Street. The record of racketeering is long. I helped purify Nicaragua for the international house of the Brown Brothers in 1909 to 1912. I brought to light the Dominican Republic for American sugar interests.

In China, I helped see to it that the Standard Oil Company went its way unmolested.

Looking back on it all I might have given Al Capone a few tips. He worked only in 3 Chicago districts. I operated on 3 continents"

  7. Oliver north was a disgrace to the uniform of the United States Marines, the United States itself, and the constitution of the United States. Of course he was a Republican darling for violating the law which is what they are best at.

  8. Grenada didn't need rescuing from the USA they wanted to stop the revolution, the economy was pointing upward, agreculture, education were showing promise, but the USA didn't care about that, their thinking is that they must not have another Cuba in the Caribbean, like we don't know eh

  9. The only non-Latin American troops present in Latim America since 1865 were were and are from the USA. Even the few European colonies left have no relevant military forces, but for the Falkland Islands. Even in WWII the French and British let the USA defend all the Western Hemisphere with whatever locals that would help them. No other gringos ever came here but for tourism.

  10. U.S. intervention in Latin America.
Not only in Latin America and also in most part of the world, in the middle east, east europe, south east asia, you just name it. USA is the big bully and aggressor in the world.

  11. Noriega trafficked illegal drugs on behalf of the CIA, using profits to fund the Contras in Nicaragua. Unfortunately for the US, Contras were not interested in fighting the Sandinistas but in protecting their Drug Routes, hence lost.
